Miami Beach Bum was born, raised, and made with love in Miami. Founded by Ayssa Di Pietro, we pride ourselves on being ethically made, good for you, and good for the planet too. We’re proud of who we are and we want to share our story with you, so keep reading to learn more about how we started, how we run things in the 305, and how we give back.
Constantly in the ocean, our founder Ayssa Di Pietro
noticed that her wet swimsuits tended to irritate the skin on her
bum—leaving behind blemishes and folliculitis. After trying and failing to
find a skincare product that healed her booty blemishes, she decided to
create her own. Using her background in science, Ayssa created the original
Miami Beach Bum formulation right out of her home in Miami.
Ayssa found that her formulation not only healed her booty, but worked on her friends’ skin as well. So, she decided to develop more products that utilized natural, effective ingredients like oregano and aloe to solve common beach beauty problems. Miami Beach Bum’s green beauty line currently includes the original Bum + Body Cream, a face cream, a natural insect repellent, and a leave-in hair conditioner made with the beach (and pool) in mind.
From plants to packaging, our supply chain is completely based within the
United States. Ayssa intentionally organized our ingredient sourcing,
product and packaging manufacturing, and warehousing to ethically occur in
the United States.
Because of this, Miami Beach Bum products are guaranteed to maintain their consistent, high quality. We regularly check up on our manufacturing partners through site visits to ensure they uphold fair labor, fair trade, and environmental standards.
Our primary packaging is 100% recyclable, while all secondary packaging is made from post-consumer waste and can be re-recycled or composted. We are also proud that our brand wear is made from organic (sometimes recycled) cotton and decorated with non-toxic ink.
When you buy our bum wear, you’re also giving back. A portion of sales from our limited edition ‘bum wear’ designs help support Elizabeth Jones’ local animal welfare initiatives. And we never, ever test our products on animals.
