Recognize me from Miami Beach Bum’s Spring ad campaigns?
Yes, I am a model, but I am also an immigration attorney and writer. As a
Cuban-born immigrant I have come to call Miami home and love the current
renaissance that is happening in my city.
I was very fortunate to be introduced to Miami Beach Bum in 2019 and started working closely with their team at the beginning of this year. As a lover of all things beauty, fashion, and skin care, I was instantly in love with the products and mission of the Miami Beach Bum. In our society of overconsumption and mass production, it’s rare to find a company that is completely transparent with what they put in their products. And a company that makes their products in Miami from ingredients and packaging sourced in the USA.
On a regular day, you can find me downtown running from the office to immigration court. I have castings a couple of times a week. But during COVID-19 closures, my life has shifted a bit. While working from home and taking court hearings through zoom, I’ve also had more time to write. Writing has always been a passion of mine and I feel very lucky to be able to do it for local, community based platforms such as Culture Crusaders and Girls Who Travel. This allows me to review products that I strongly believe in, advocate for racial and social justice, and spread positivity.
As a young woman, it’s important for me to work and advocate for sustainability. Since the COVID-19 pandemic affected so many small businesses around the world, it made me take a step back and realize that I was not supporting enough local Miami business owners. It made me all the more proud to be a part of this team in this moment in time. Working with Ayssa and seeing her vision, drive, and efforts to make the Miami Beach Bum as inclusive and diverse as possible encourages me to do the same in every aspect of my life. The campaign focused on real women, real bodies, no photoshop or editing. Relatable and honest.
As always, I’m grateful to be a part of this team. It’s rare to get to work so closely with an organization that you really believe in. I always leave our meetings and shoots feeling more empowered and comfortable in my own skin. I truly enjoyed being a part of this campaign and sharing some behind-the-scenes with you all. I hope you do too! Stay in touch and catch me in the next campaign.
